The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program is open to all dogs of any age and breed. It’s a 10-skill test designed to improve canine manners and responsible dog ownership. While CGC is suitable for all ages, AKC also offers S.T.A.R. Puppy, a specialized program for puppies starting their training journey.
We proudly offer a puppy training class incorporating the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program. This program consists of twice-weekly, one-hour sessions designed to build confidence and good manners in your puppy, providing an excellent foundation for future training and preparation for the Canine Good Citizen title.
This course focuses on building a well-mannered and confident canine companion. Through positive reinforcement techniques, your dog will learn essential obedience skills, creating a strong foundation for a positive relationship with you. This class meets weekly.
Develop a well-mannered and confident dog with FORTIS Canine LLC’s Intermediate Obedience classes, expertly led by James Halstead. Using balanced training techniques, your dog will master key obedience skills, creating a strong foundation for a positive relationship. Classes meet weekly, and a Hermspringer prong collar or Starmark collar is provided for use during the course.
Elevate your dog’s training with our Advanced Obedience program. This course builds on the skills learned in a basic obedience class, equipping you with the tools to handle more challenging scenarios. A prerequisite of completing a basic obedience class from FORTIS Canine or a comparable program with a certified dog trainer is necessary. The program incorporates the responsible use of an e-collar — provided as part of the course — within a humane and positive reinforcement framework.
